This is only a quick note upon which I will build later. We know that in the Old Testament a major theme was of Israel as the Bride of God himself. And so, we hear the Lord speaking as the brokenhearted lover when he sees Israel's choice to worship other gods and to get carried away into empty sensuality. Then of course, in the new testament Jesus is revealed as the messiah, the One of the trinity who is the Bridegroom. Now the bride whom he woos by his own sacrifice is not only Israel but all of us who would hear his message of love and draw near. Paul writes with such enormous inspiration when in Chapter 5 of Ephesians he urges husbands to love "your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...to present her radiant and without blemish in the day of the Lord." So in that context--recognizing that we are awaiting the wedding banquet in Heaven when we will be united to our Bridegroom--we can read Song of Solomon, chapter 3, verses 1-5.
You'll see the clear parallel between this passage and Deuteronomy 4:29: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." Today, remember who you are, the Bride of Christ, and that we are to seek him with same passion as the the longing betrothed did for her "beloved"; she would not stop searching until her desires were fulfilled.
More later on this!
"...you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him
with all your heart and all your soul." Jeremiah 29:13
